The story behind the Moon Boot makes the shoe even more unique! The original shoe, made in the 1970s was inspired by the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. The original Moon Boot was conceived by the Tecnica Group, with brand founder Giancarlo Zanatta inspired by the shape and technology of the astronauts' anti-gravity boots worn by Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin.
In the 1980s, the shoes were already a big trend for women, men and children. In 2000, it resurfaced as the perfect shoe for après-ski and for days when the ground was muddy. Also in 2000, the boot was listed as one of the 100 most important design symbols of the 20th century. And as of 2011, about 700,000 are produced in Ukraine every year!
